Referral & Fees

Please contact Anasha to organise an appointment. Feel welcome to contact her to discuss any questions or ambivalences you might have too.
The standard fee per consultation is $220
Psychotherapy with a Referral
A referral under Medicare's Better Access Scheme covers a portion of the cost of psychological therapy. If you are seeking a referral, please visit your treating medical practitioner (General Practitioner, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician) for assessment. If you meet the criteria, your treating medical practitioner will provide you with a Mental Health Care Plan, which will allow you to access up to 10 sessions per calendar year. Under a Mental Health Care Plan, you can claim a Medicare rebate of $141.85 per session from the full fee for up to 10 sessions per year. The remaining out-of-pocket cost for each session is $78.15. Please note, a brief report on assessment, progress and treatment will need to be provided to your referrer after the sixth and tenth session.
Additional pathways covered by Medicare are available, such as the Eating Disorder Treatment Pathway that allows you to access up to 40 sessions per calendar year or the Enhanced Primacy Care Plan that offers up to 5 sessions to allied health. Please speak to your treating medical practitioner about eligibility criteria or contact Anasha for further information.
Psychotherapy Without a Referral
If you choose to access psychotherapy without a referral, you may still be eligible for partial reimbursement of your sessions via your private health insurance. Please check with your insurer regarding coverage. Medicare or Private Health Care claims can be processed at the end of your session using the HICAPS facility. You can also see Dr Kumar privately without private health cover or a referral.
In-person & telehealth (video/ phone) appointments are available. Telehealth appointments are conducted via Microsoft Teams, which is an encrypted videoconferencing platform, or via phone. If you'd like any further information, please feel free to get in touch.
Other relevant information:
• You can access the Australian Psychological Societies mental health charter here, which provides information on your rights as a patient.
• Patients can access up to 10 Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) sessions per calendar year. The first four sessions are accessible after receiving your MHCP. Three months from the date of your MHCP, you will be eligible to receive a MHCP review with your referrer, which will enable you to access the remaining four MHCP sessions.
• Your MHCP is valid for 12 months from the original date. If you have not used all your sessions in a previous year, it is possible to access them within a 12-month period, provided there are sessions available.
• Please note that I do not provide emergency or crisis care. If you’re in an urgent crisis and you feel unable to keep yourself safe, call The Acute Care Team Service on 1300 MH CALL or 000.
